4x8 Antique Persian Rug Runner

:: A truly old piece, this is a vintage 1880's - 1890's Malayer rug in unique and hard-to-find gallery runner size that works well as an area rug too. This rug boasts all natural dyes, and its colors are truly brilliant and utterly breathtaking. True, finely knotted Malayer rugs in this shape are difficult to come by, as they are a classic favorite amongst the collector and decorator crowds. The carpet has some wear showing some knot heads and foundation. Two clear spots of repairs each approximately 1.5 inch x1.5 inch and 1 inch x 2 inches. Repairs appear to have been strung on repair loom (in an off shade, but similar motif) separate from the rug, then patched in (you can see them in photograph #5). Sides have a slightly coarser, older selvage, likely replaced within the last forty years. Some minor loss to the end outer minor border. A spectacular piece in otherwise 95% original condition. Exact size is 3'10" x 7'6"; this rug is in very clean condition having recently been hand washed, and fully overcast ends. All ready to be put to use for many, many more decades to come!
