:: Very unusual and speckled yellow green field. Turkish carpet likely woven in or around the area of Sivas. Speckled weaving entails randomly alternating different colored knots, and the tying there of, add to the dynamic character and depth of color range. This technique is often found in carpets woven primarily in Persian weaving cities, such as those as Bijar or Meshed, although when countered in woven examples you will often find this to be confined to part of a single design element as opposed to blanketed across the entire carpet such as found in this. Great imagination and care went into creating this hand-knotted fun and funky mid-century modernistic example. Perfect area rug size for a playroom or a living room with unique spirit. Hard areas of distressed wear most notably to the center, further adding to the intrigue of the carpet. A close inspection of exposed foundation shows the pairing of two weavers bringing their work together in what are known as lazy lines. Despite the name, the appearance of such is really the conjoining of both weavers weaving from opposite sides of the carpet and meeting together whereby mended wefting and diagonal striation represents the merging of their work. Many years of enjoyment to come with this carpet! Recently professionally cleaned, ready for in-home use. This vintage 1960's vintage Deco Oushak hand knotted in Turkey measures 5' x 8'5".
