:: It's pretty amazing to think a textile made of natural renewable fibers can survive for decades, generations even centuries. Simply as a survivor, this carpet is a testament to the artisan craft of textile and hand knotted rugs. An antique 18th century rug from Turkey, likely woven around 1770's to 1790's although possibly older. Aged antique ivory field with light teal, shades of burgundy and blue. A unique non-prayer design rug featuring a center medallion and allover repeating motif. The carpet has some condition issues, although has both decorative and collector appeal as old carpets like this are typically not readily available often tied up in private collection or even museums. Two ply wool foundation. This carpet is being sold in fair condition, not suitable for being walked on. A very old rug best considered as a conversation piece for display atop a table or as a wall hanging. The perimeter of the carpet is quite fragile due to adhesive applied to the reverse side of the carpet, as is the medallion. Numerous areas of mends, restorations, and reweaves. The field of the carpet is soft and supple. The carpet is in original form likely as woven - not reduced in size, but in original woven measurements more or less. Faux applied fringe. One end has 1/2 inch rewoven restoration. Many years of enjoyment to come with this rug! Size measures 2'2" x 3'7"
