:: Antique watercolor painting, circa 1880s, from the portfolio of an artist (initials MD) that mainly covers English landscapes. Amazing attention to detail, small-scale, beyond gorgeous seascape depicting Fort Picklecombe near Plymouth, United Kingdom! This fort was commissioned not that many years before this painting was made (maybe around 30 years prior) by Lord Palmerston, then prime minister under Queen Victoria. In good condition, commensurate with age, exhibiting small signs of use and age. Kindly reference photos for which of these may apply. Measures 7" x 10".
