How long does shipping take?
Most orders are dispatched within 1 business day, often same day if placed before 3pm EST. East Coast: 1–3 days; West Coast: up to 6 days.
Do you accept returns?
Yes, for rugs not marked as clearance. Notify us within 3 days, ship back within 5. 3% fee applies. Custom pads, paper items, and freight are not returnable.
Are your rugs authentic or vintage?
Yes — all rugs are 100% authentic. Most are vintage or antique hand-knotted rugs. We’re nine generations deep in the rug trade.
How should I care for my rug day to day?
Gently sweep or vacuum (no beater bar). Rotate 180° each season. Blot spills immediately — never scrub.
How can I prevent moth damage or store a rug?
Rotate seasonally, avoid damp storage. Always clean rugs before storing. Never leave rugs untouched under furniture for long periods.
Do you offer rug cleaning services?
Yes — mostly for rugs purchased through us. We offer plant shampoo washes, deep soaks, and hand cleaning depending on the rug’s needs.
Do you offer in-person appointments?
Yes — by appointment at 33 Katonah Ave, Katonah NY. Email md@oldnewhouse.com. Best to choose 4–6 rugs per room of interest before visiting.
What do you charge for shipping?
Most rugs ship free in the U.S. if kept and not freight. If returned, we deduct round-trip shipping at discounted cost. Ask for a quote before ordering.
What does “distressed” mean in a rug?
It means the rug was intentionally faded, washed, or sheared for a worn aesthetic. Great for low to moderate traffic.
Do you offer trade or designer discounts?
Yes — designers and wholesale customers can register here. Discounts apply once approved and logged in.
