:: Beautiful fine antique silk Persian Kashan area rug conservative weaving date 1915, likely closer to 1900. An interesting and unusual fusion for rugs of this type: traditional Persian workshop carpet with strong European flare in the border motif. Also note the effect and tonalities, which may only be achieved by an authentic old carpet of this type, age, material and craftsmanship. Very high knot count with its condition being soft and supple, majority of original purple silk selvage still intact. The carpet features striking ranges of blues, brilliant violet, gold and even silver. This is truly a breathtaking piece of art! Conditional notes are that there is some light powdering of aged silk (very common), moderate recessing of all colors with exception to browns which appear 'raised' in some areas due to different oxidation rate. Also, one area of isolated wear down to the knot heads. Overall fair condition carpet with an unmatchable look and authenticity. This piece has one end overcast and was recently professionally washed so it is all ready for use in a low-traffic area. Also important to note that from the dark side of the rug, it is very dark in its purple tones. More photographs available upon request so please let us know in advance to checking out if you have any questions or concerns on how the silk looks in certain lighting situations and from different angles. Measures in at perfect area rug size of 4'3" x 6'8".
