Special Notice From Shop Owners

:: This rare piece is a metal hoop skirt / dress form, vintage circa the late 1800's, manufactured (as it reads on the bottom foot) by Morse and Whyte, patented 1881. It is so ultra industrial and even has a snippet of its original cloth measuring tape attached to it! Naturally this came out in the era when hoop skirts were all the rage and it is just so special that it has stuck around for all of these years. To me, this piece would make an awesome hat stand or of course would make a nice addition to the home of a collector of fashion memorabilia or antiques in general, or for decor in a sewing room of a clothing enthusiast. This is a true gem so whether you have an physical use for it or would like it just for decor, it is quite the special conversation piece! Condition notes: this incredibly old skirt form was created to be an umbrella-type collapsible apparatus from the looks of it and while it does still go in and out, there are some portions of the metal that are broken (like a couple of latches on the bottom that are missing and hence, don't connect). Functionality is not completely there but it does come close considering its age, just a bit fragile in certain spots. Lots of rust, in antique condition. Measures 49" tall in total and each foot measures 16" in distance between.
