1.5x2 Antique Bakshaish Square Rug Mat

:: An extremely unusual, very rare and scarce size, Northwest Persian Bakshaish with an all over covered Herati main field with central minor diamond shaped medallion and heavily abrashed inner and outer blossomed borders with a colorful blossom and floral top view main border. All the colors are in natural shades and in some cases even hint at Karabagh Armenian derived purples. Colors and shades include: Pomegranate red, powder blue, sky blue, dusty teal, dusty mallard green, aubergine, burgundy wine red, emerald green, jade green, pale saffron yellow, chocolate brown, sapphire blue, platinum, and more. Condition notes: Areas of pile, knot heads and foundation. Most of the original side cord selvages are intact or restored. Fully secured sides and ends. At some point the ends had loosely wrapped selvage applied which could be reversed. One area of light lost tension in the wefting closer to one end. Proper etching to select shades imparting dimensional contour. Localized areas of repairs and darning in varying degrees of expertise. Ideally suited for a low to moderate traffic area deeper inside the home. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use!
