:: An Afghan Ersari with repeating guls. Carpets of this style are often emulated interpretations of flower / fruit cross-sections and/or top view. In this particular motif an overlay of both depicting a cross-section and top view of repeating pomegranates arranged on columns and rows. Note any one individual octagonal design element isolated consider a central core with quadrants each baring seeds. Likely made in or around Amu Darya region in North Central Afghanistan CA. 1915-1925. Rather large for the types and age with great quality wool and healthy luster. Colors and shades include: Pale madder root red, rust with a hint of orange or terra cotta, faded tangerine orange apricot, charcoal brown black, sapphire blue, mallard green, pale saffron yellow, and more. Condition notes: Even wear across to knot heads. Fully secured sides and ends. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use! Many years of enjoyment to come with this hand knotted Afghani carpet circa 1920's vintage. Exact size measures 10'6" x 15'8".
