:: 18th century hand colored etching by famous artist Rowlandson titled Paviors Joy. Rowlandson was one of the great British satirists and this is a fantastic example of his comical work. Very amusing illustration. Comical text under the illustration reads 'When J_X walks the streets the Paviors cry. God bless you sir & lay their rammers by.' Signed in the plate. Condition: Paper browned and lightly soiled. Two rips, one goes into the engraving from the right about two inches long. Some brown spotting and overall signs of handling. Full size measures 13.25" x 10.5" and cropped, the dimensions would be the same.
