:: A highly unusual Farahan Sarouk with an ultra-fine Lilihan design motif bearing central scalloped main medallion defined by scrolling arabesques. Double inwardly germinating tree of life design motifs at either end of the main field with elaborate fern leaves intricately detailed. Lily design flowers found throughout. Main border in a trefoil floral bouquet and floral cross-section design motif with serrated leaves scrolling throughout. Abrashes across. Unique artistic merit and nuanced design motifs exquisitely drawn with minor weaver liberties found throughout. At the top center inner minor border is an inscription in Farsi reading "Ghasedly". This is a very early example of a period correct painted rug in a faint magenta shade. This type of rug is sometimes known for stiff or unmalleable character, however, these are relatively malleable for the type and age. Colors and shades include: Faded fuchsia, chestnut, rust, beige, ivory, dusty teal, antique ivory, sky blue, cobalt blue, sapphire blue, sandalwood, pale coffee brown, hint of dusty lime green, and more. Condition notes: Areas of pile, knot heads and foundation. Most of the original side cord selvages are intact or restored. Fully secured sides and ends. A few scattered areas of repairs in varying degrees of expertise, mostly confined to the outer edge, and likely from storage. Minor loss to one end, partial loss of one end outer minor border. Tatter to both ends. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use! Many years of enjoyment to come with this hand knotted Persian Farahan Sarouk rug made in Persia circa 1910's vintage. Size measures 3'2" x 4'6".
