4x11.5 Antique Bijar Rug Runner

:: Triple main hexagonal center medallion interconnected by minor vines and minor medallions therein with stepped contour and hook-and-latch enveloped design motif across. Open abrashed ground with meandering vine inner and outer main borders and a floral top view main. An extremely unusual example where seventy percent of the carpet is full and original while a smaller portion at one end appears to have been a near perfect match by border designs and coloration though different in weave. This addendum fragment, likely taken from a Caucasian rug, shows partial signs of sizing to match a slightly narrower width of the min carpet. Unique and fascinating how similar the likely two varying origins of weave show. Colors and shades include: Dark navy blue, dusty teal blue, madder root red, cherry red, ivory, sky blue, powder blue, jade green, pale tangerine orange, and more. Condition notes: Areas of pile, knot heads and foundation. Mostly secure sides and ends. The fragment patch end is delicate enough in weave that it is best suited for a lower traffic area deeper inside the home and it is advised that this rug is not suitable for a home with pets that may claw at it. Carpet has some bare spots scattered along both sides of selvage. At some point in its past this carpet had been professionally reduced from it's original size and length, likely in longer proportions as the end border on the reverse side of the carpet shows interior reduction and concealed in-seaming and adhesive. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use! Many years of enjoyment to come with this hand knotted Persian Bijar rug runner made in Persia circa 1920's vintage.
