4x6.5 Antique Mahal Rug
:: Allover covered field in a Herati motif. Intricate detail throughout with birds scattered throughout the field. Fantastic coloration, many in the gem tone family. The original side cord selvage is unusual in that it is a continuation of the wefting, in a shade of powder blue. Colors and shades include: Indigo blue, sapphire blue, powder blue, beige, madder root red, ivory, blush, silver, pale saffron yellow, and more. Condition notes: Very even short pile across with a few very small areas of foundation showing through. Slight loss and tatter to either end, although most original macramé in good condition. Faint contour and etching to the minor border silver shade. Original side cord selvages mostly intact and are a continuation of the wefting. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use! Many years of enjoyment to come with this hand knotted Persian Mahal rug made in Persia circa 1890's vintage. Size measures 4'1" x 6'4".
