1.5x2.5 Antique Fine Farahan Sarouk Rug Mat

:: Allover whimsical Persian and transitional arts and crafts fusion feel with sprawling vines, minor buds, and elaborate flowers stemming therefrom. Wrapped by a meandering vine and boteh main border in narrow relief with inner and outer minor borders in a serpent design. Rugs of this era in transitional motifs are especially captivating, where it is not only the weave and European influence but also the unusual renderings, which can feel almost experimental. Some are precursors to high-level production, while others are simply incredibly unique, such as this one. Colors and shades include: Faded raspberry red, blush pink, navy blue, dusty teal, sky blue, coffee brown, antique ivory, cream, and more. Condition notes: Areas of pile, knot heads and foundation. Most of the original side cord selvages are intact or restored. Fully secured sides and ends. A period correct painted rug. Expertly restored ends. A few areas of minor splits which occurred when the carpet had been slightly stiff which are relatively inconsequential if the rug is flat. The stiffness has since been remedied with the rug now being quite malleable. Scattered repairs in varying degrees of expertise with expert restoration to one end. Rug has some contouring.
