3.5x5.5 Vintage Bijar Rug

:: This Bijar rug features a classic Herati pattern built around an oversized angular central medallion anchored within a densely ornamented field. The repeating Herati motif, often interpreted as a rosette surrounded by curling leaves or fish-like forms, creates a highly rhythmic and interconnected surface across the composition, while the medallion contrasts against the main field through an inversion of the same underlying design. The drawing balances the robust architectural character associated with Bijar weaving alongside the finer curvilinear detailing of Persian floral design traditions. Colors and shades include: Pomegranate red, sky blue, navy blue, blush, beige, silver, Condition notes: Areas of pile, knot heads and foundation. Most of the original side cord selvages are intact or restored. Fully secured sides and ends. A few minor spots of old adhesive on reverse side not seen on the face each less than a few inches. Edge roll common for the type mostly resolved with straps sewn to reverse side near the selvage to encourage natural settling atop a pad. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use!
