Antique Farahan Sarouk Rug Product Description and Details

:: Sprawling oversize compilation of medallions surrounding the main central serrated starburst pomegranate medallion each bearing unique samovar / turtle-like relief, one or two bearing a hidden animal face in the contours. Sprawling germinating floral renderings flank the main field with an expressive corner field overlay in partial reciprocal contour to the finials found in the main medallion. Narrow banded inner and outer minor borders in a minor boteh design rendering. Soft and supple weave, not quite as delicate as the typical example of this type and age. Colors and shades include: Blush, navy blue, sapphire blue, tangerine orange, dusty rose, lime green, melon, silver, dusty mallard green, gold, pale powder blue and more. Condition notes: Areas of pile, knot heads and foundation. Mostly secure sides and ends. One end measures 2'11" whereas the opposing measures 3'2". This variation is within normal margins for hand knotted rugs of this type, age, and size. Multiple repairs in varying degrees of expertise. Old signs of moth etching across the main field. Some areas of missing selvage. Minor reduction to both ends. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use! Many years of enjoyment to come with this hand knotted Persian Farahan Sarouk rug made in Persia circa 1920's vintage. Size measures 3'2" x 4'11".
