8.5x11 Antique Heriz Carpet

:: A late first quarter of the 20th century Heriz displays a large-scale, oversize pattern across a red ground, with oversize serrated leaves and bold contrasting motifs arranged in a repeating geometric lattice. The main field is framed by a Safavid dragon style inspired border with elaborate curvilinear rendering and extremely colorful detailing. The design combines regimented geometric relief with sprawling, oversize elements for an unusually expressive treatment. Colors and shades include: Cherry red, cobalt blue, ivory, beige, emerald green, sapphire blue, golden wheat, powder blue, blush, mallard green, saffron yellow, lime green, burgundy wine red and more. Condition notes: Even wear across to knot heads with faint foundation showing through. Most of the original side cord selvages are intact or restored. Fully secured sides and ends. Light reduction to one end. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use! Many years of enjoyment to come with this hand knotted Persian Heriz carpet made in Persia circa 1920's vintage.
